We are progressing the award of 5G spectrum in Jersey, which will allow local operators to provide enhanced mobile services following suitable network upgrades.
In January 2023, we announced our acceptance of two applications for 5G spectrum – from JT and Sure. This page links to an information note confirming that we have written to Ofcom recommending it awards the necessary spectrum licences.
We have also included links to the individual letters of recommendation sent.

5G is the latest international mobile telephone standard, developed to significantly improve mobile broadband speeds and greatly increase the quantity of devices connecting wirelessly to the internet. Operators envisage its introduction will aid the development of new applications including driverless cars and smart home appliances.
We recently invited applications from companies interested in receiving ‘Full Service’ spectrum packages, intended for Island-wide networks providing publicly available services for the maximum number of users. An information note updating the outcome of this process is shown below.
