The Authority is the statutory body responsible for upholding and enforcing the Competition (Jersey) Law 2005. The Competition Law prohibits:
- Anti-competitive agreements: arrangements between businesses that may restrict competition (e.g., price-fixing).
- Abuse of dominance: when a business uses its market power to restrict or hinder competition, causing harm to competitors or consumers.
- Harmful mergers: mergers that reduce competition and limit consumer choice.
Our aim is that Jersey's markets work efficiently for consumers, businesses and the wider economy by encouraging innovation, investment, value for money, choice and quality. This helps make Jersey an attractive place to do business.
